Mermaids and towels!!

Rebecca was invited to a mermaid party and instead of buying the same costume everyone else had I decided to get creative. I must say it was easy and I was pleased with the end result even though I was told today at the party "it was itchy".

More towels also attached. I have been doing heaps. They are such a cool pressie to do and fast and easy and so far everyone loves them.

What better present for a dancer

than three little items embroidered with ballet dancers. I did this set for a little dancing friend for whom we are attending a party next Sunday. I hope she likes them.

Cross off the list

I am doing quite well with my list.

1. Downsized my quilt - check!

2. Abby's curtains - check!

3. One towel done for Christmas

4. Santa sacks in the works

5. Rebecca's christmas dress complete

So although not too many completions lots of work done towards completions.

I have this picture of Rebecca's dress she looks beautiful in it. This was still pinned as I had tried the straps on and have to sew them. I can't wait for her to wear it in her santa photo. Abby's dress will be a similar design but green and candy canes. Now just to get them to sit with santa when the time comes.

I wish I could think of more exciting things to write in my blog and better titles but I just lack writing creativity sorry guys! Thanks for looking.

Ramblings

So we are on the move and I thought I would put down in writing the sewing projects that I want to complete before we go!

1 - Downsize my king quilt cover to a queen.

2 - Abby's curtains.

3 - Rebecca's curtains.

4 - Our curtains (do you sense a theme here lol)

5 - Playroom cushions

6 - Rebecca's cushions

7 - All my santa stocking orders - example shown let me know if you want one

8 - Embroidered towels for xmas presents.

9 - Last but not least Christmas dresses and tshirts for the girls. WOW!

Amongst packing up a house laughable aye.

Bedroom project.

Stage one Disney Princess room complete. Stay tuned to see the final product when we move!! Despite the material being too narrow I got around it by overlocking 7 inches off the inner and adding a ruffle to the edges to make it wide enough to fit down the sides of the bed. Just need to add buttons and iron it and it is complete. I do not want to see another gathered project for quite some time.!!

Just need to get material to make two pillowcases and some cushions and complete the curtains and it will be done. Sounds easy huh!

My girls

Every day I cannot believe how grown up looking the girls are getting. I certainly don't have any babies any more. This was taken just before I took Rebecca to her Dora Explorer concert. We did not tell her until the night before and she was so excited.

And of course what do you do when you don't want your little sister to keep interrupting your playing - you barricade her in her wardrobe under all her toys!!

Can you tell me how to get....

How to get to Sesame Street. Don't you just love ELMO!! These photos just don't do the embroidery justice. It looks much thicker in real life. Hmmm maybe my camera. Anyway enjoy thanks for looking.

Towels

I just love doing towels and experimenting with the different colours and pictures. Great for presents and easy to whip up when Rebecca gets invited to a party!!

New Zealand

We went for three weeks to New Zealand to see my nana from 2nd to 24th August. It was great to spend time with her and for her to see the girls.

It was not that cold all the time. We did get a light sprinkling of snow. Here are some pics of my girls all rugged up in their winter gear.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

Okay so I know it is still three months away but I am starting to churn out santa sacks for orders.

They don't do justice in the photos because it looks so grainy.

Here are two of the ones that I have done so far with 25 more to do!! Lucky I love it.

Thanks for looking.

Busy getting ready

To hit these markets. This is another little outfit I have made. I love it and want to keep it for Abby. When it does not sell I guess I can. I am thinking about putting a hat with it and making it more of an outfit. We will see.

I wish I could think of more exciting blog titles. I read some peoples blogs and they are so well written and presented. Ah to be more poetic!

Anyway on to the photos. Hope you like. Any suggestions re a name would be good too. Still like JMAC. What do you think?
Oh and I just got an email saying the markets are not going ahead this weekend due to my friend being busy. On the flipside gives me more time to get ready and market my name!!

Market sewing

I have decided to hit the markets and sell some of my creations. Being winter I have decided to have a few muted brown tones and autumnish colours that will go well with scivvies and tights. As well as making some lighter and brighter items that people can buy for the warmer months. Currently pinafores are my focus and I am churning them out. I hope these will sell and time will tell. Trying to come up with a catchy name for my items. Someone suggested JMAC which I thought was simple and yet effective. I have made one skirt so far in a size 3 and three pinafores 2 NB size and 1 small. Wish me luck!!

Things are looking rosy!!

I just love this dress I finished tonight. Still have to fit the straps to the right size on my model who is currently asleep. I really enjoyed making it and love the fabric, it is so bright and happy. Pity my photography does not really do it justice.

And just for good measure a piccie of the new pj's!!

Another new hobby!

So on Tuesday nights I now find myself going off to a quilting class in a quaint little shop right on the coast. It is a lovely relaxing class and runs for three hours from 6.30pm. I am really enjoying it and learning so much it makes my head spin. Here are some pictures of my first project. It is a table topper quilt apparently. This week we bind it and it is finished. There is another border that is not included yet and I have quilted it but not taken an updated piccie. Thinking hard about what to do next. Enjoy!

Beautiful daughters

And one last post because I am a proud Mummy of my two beautiful girls. This was a recent outing to the local lagoon. We are going back there soon it was such a great day!

I can't believe that Rebecca is nearly four and more hard to believe that Abby will be one in just 6 weeks. Why do I still have my baby weight ha ha!

New top for Rebecca

I thought I had added this one. I was quite proud of this shirt as I mostly made the pattern up. Rebecca loved it and as soon as it was finished she had it on.

Embroidery

It would seem that I have not been updating my embroidery pressies on my blog. So here are some goodies that went out for Xmas and birthdays and for my own girls.

New years resolution

My new years resolution is to sew things for the girls before I buy. Lets see how good I can be. I decided Abby needed some new PJ's but have not quite got there yet because I got side tracked by another outfit I had already cut out. I thought while the overlocker was black I might as well use it! I have never made something that frustrated me as much as this little cross over top, try as I might I could not finish the side edges so that they were inside each other and with just a little hole to slipstitch closed. So I cheated and did a normal side seam and overlocked it in very closely. It does the job but man am I annoyed it beat me. A friend has already completed this pattern numerous times so I am off to her place with the next one to get lessons on that step! I will not let the darn thing beat me. Anyway as you can see my model (although very cute lol) was not too accommodating so I only got a rear view and a very close up to show it off thus far. I am impressed by how well it fitted and am in the middle of cutting out two more sets in various fabrics and I have just cut out the hat to sew matching the first outfit. Now after all that here are the photos!
